World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this represents the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable game drew over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase over the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the total American average was 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 different tongues.
